NextDose groups provide a way for NextDose users to access a common set of patient data. Each user should have their own individual NextDose user account. They can then be invited by a NextDose group administrator to join the group using the NextDose user email address associated with the individual NextDose user account. There can be more than one NextDose group administrator. Any NextDose user who has been given NextDose group administrator access can access and manage NextDose users in the group. This includes giving administrator privileges to another NextDose group member or changing administrator privilege to the standard read/write privilege. NextDose group administrators are responsible for giving access to NextDose patient data to group members. It is the group administrator who is responsible for obtaining permission from the clinical unit to allow the use of NextDose.
All NextDose users should register as individuals with an email address, which also serves as a username, and a private password. NextDose users who wish to have share access to the same patient data should request that one user should become a NextDose group administrator. Access to become a NextDose group administrator can be applied for here.
For audit and security reasons it is a bad idea to allow more than one user have access to a single NextDose user account. If several users share the same NextDose user account it is advisable for each users to create a NextDose user account using an individual email address and a non-shared password. After that is complete it would be good to delete the shared NextDose user account.
This role is not related to administration of the NextDose
group but it should be a NextDose administrator. There can be only one person
nominated as the data controller. NextDose administrators have responsibility
for the clinical data that is entered into NextDose and stored on the NextDose
server. The NextDose Data Controller role is important if there are questions
about transfer of data from the NextDose server e.g. if someone wishes to
perform an audit or research project with the data and asks for data to be
extracted from the NextDose server and sent to the data controller. Typically,
this request is associated with an Ethics Committee approval for an audit or
research project.
